Both clubs have been linked with the Brazilian in recent weeks, but according to Italian source ItaSportPress, Lucas is a keen admirer of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and would prefer a move to the Emirates.

The 23-year-old has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season and scored five goals.

Lucas has fallen down the pecking order at Parc des Princes and his situation has alerted a number of leading clubs across Europe.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are in desperate need of strengthening their midfield unit with Francis Coquelin, Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, and Theo Walcott all struggling with respective injuries.

Another midfielder on Wenger's radar is Dinamo Zagreb's Marcelo Brozovic.

The 23-year-old is on loan at Inter Milan and the Italians do have first refusal on the player, however, that has not stopped Arsenal checking on the player's availability.

If a move to Inter does fall through, it is thought - according to ItaSportPress - that the player wishes to join Arsenal.

Arsenal have opened talks with Palmerias over youngster Gabriel Jesus.

According to CalcioMercato24, the club sent officials out to Brazil and are set to open discussions with the 18-year-old's agent.

Jesus scored 37 goals in 22 matches for Palmeiras’ youth team last season.

Since breaking into the first team this season, Jesus has continued his goalscoring form with five in 17 appearances.

One player looking to leave the club next month, however, is Mathieu Debuchy.

The 30-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited at Arsenal after falling behind youngster Hector Bellerin.

Debuchy has made just seven appearances for Wenger's side this season and has now revealed he is considering his future.

Debuchy is quoted as saying by Metro: “I’ll look at the offers to move. I love England and the football here, but why not return to France?

“In the summer Arsene Wenger told me we’d talk if I was not happy with my situation in December.

“It is now December. I’m waiting to talk to the boss.

“Of course I would be disappointed not to make the Euros, it’s probably my last chance to play in such a situation.”
