The move would include a world record €150m transfer fee and wages that would keep him as the highest paid player in the world, according to the Sunday Times.

PSG offered Real Madrid €120m in the summer window to bring the Ballon d'Or holder to the Parc des Princes, a move that was rejected by the Spanish club.

The Qatari owners will offer Ronaldo improved terms on his current salary, that is estimated to net him €20.5m after tax every year €395,000-a-week.

Manchester United continue to be interested in bringing the Portuguese star back to Old Trafford and made enquiries of their own over the summer.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's public stance is that Ronaldo will only be sold if a club chooses to meet his €1bn release clause.
