Angel Di Maria appears unlikely to join his Manchester United colleagues on their pre-season tour of the US as Paris Saint Germain step up their interest in the Argentinian international.
The winger has been given an extended break, along with Marcos Rojo, following the Copa America, but the French side have agreed a fee with the Red Devils to end his short stint in the Premier League according to French reports.
The French champions, who are due to face United in Chicago on July 29, have already outlined a five-year contract to match Di Maria's personal terms at Old Trafford but crucially what remains is whether United will sanction the deal.
Di Maria joined United for a British record of £59.7m last summer but has failed to settle in England and after the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, with more transfers in the pipeline, manager Louis van Gaal appears prepared to make a loss on the 27-year-old.
Other reports today suggest that United have agreed a fee with the Portuguese side Benfica for Nicolas Gaitan, thought to be €30m (£21m).
A fee of £43m is believed to have been agreed between the clubs, with a deal worth a whopping €280,000 a week on offer for the player who made 32 appearances last season.
Publicly Di Maria has committed to proving his worth in England, but sources have claimed the Argentinian would be keen on a move to Paris.
