Preston have signed Cork City defender Kevin O'Connor on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old will join the Preston squad along with current teammate Seanie Maguire on July 24.

"It's a massive opportunity, I'm just looking forward to getting started now and I couldn't be happier to sign," O'Connor told www.pnefc.net.

"It's a great club, a big club, and there's a big fan base here so I'm just excited to get started.

"I know a few of the boys already obviously with Sean moving over and Alan (Browne), that will help me settle in quicker.

"But I wasn't really thinking of that, I was just delighted to be joining."

O'Connor joins Preston following the departure of manager Simon Grayson to Sunderland.

He becomes the club's fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Maguire, goalkeeper Declan Rudd and forward Josh Harrop.
