Manchester United are being linked with a last gasp transfer deadline day move for Olympiacos full-back Omar Elabdellaoui.
Norway international Elabdellaoui failed to make his mark after emerging through the youth team academy at Manchester City, but he has emerged as a surprise candidate to fill some of the defensive voids in Louis van Gaal's United side.
Agent Jim Solbakken told the Manchester Evening News: "The interest of Manchester United is in place. We will see what happens during the night."
Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young are among the defensive options that have spent time in the United treatment room this season, with a move for a new full-back seemingly inevitable in this transfer window.
Yet doubts over the future of United boss Louis van Gaal and a lack of quality options available may push United into a late deal, with Elabdellaoui looking like something of a short-term option if he does arrive.
He failed to make a Premier League appearance for City during his six years at the club, before he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig and then on to Olympiacos.
He played twice against Arsenal in the Champions League this season and is said to be keen to prove his worth in the Premier League after his aborted bid to make a breakthrough at City.
