Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan extends stay with Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has extended his contract with the Bundesliga club.
The 24-year-old Germany international, who moved to Signal Iduna Park four years ago, has signed a new deal that sees him remain at the eight-times Bundesliga champions until June 2017.
The former Nurnberg midfielder has played in 80 league games for Die Schwarzgelben since making the switch in May 2011, scoring nine goals in the process and providing 10 assists.
Gundogan was pleased to get his new contract signed and is now focused on preparing for the new season with Thomas Tuchel's side.
He told the club's official website www.bvb.de: "The first days of preparing for the new season are over and it is a lot of fun to work with the coaches and my team-mates.
"I am happy that we have sorted this out at last and I will continue to play football for Borussia Dortmund.
"My focus right from now is totally geared to our preparations - after all, we want to go all-out for attack in August."
Dortmund got off to a difficult start in the Bundesliga last term before former coach Jurgen Klopp saw them to a seventh-place finish in the standings.
