Manchester United prepare £20m bid for Jerome Boateng
Manchester United will attempt to strengthen their back-line with a £20m bid for Jerome Boateng, according to The Metro.
Louis van Gaal had to make frequent changes to his back four last season, and is in the market for a new centre-back.
Boateng, a World Cup winner with Germany and Champions League winner with Bayern Munich, has the experience and know-how that Van Gaal is after, and a bid could be imminent.
Boateng has also played in the Premier League before, albeit for just a single season in 2010-11 with Manchester City.
One major obstacle for a move however could be the defender's girlfriend, who is against the move, according to The Daily Star.
The Star reports that Sherin Senler, the mother of Boateng's twin children, was miserable in Manchester four years ago when he was at City.
Elsewhere, United look to be moving closer to a move for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
The Telegraph reports that United will tell Real Madrid that they want Ramos as part of any deal that sees Old Trafford goalkeeper David de Gea joining the Spanish club.
Ramos is contracted to Real until 2017 and the Spain international has been in protracted talks about a new deal. But negotiations have hit a stalemate which United could now exploit.
It would be a coup if United were to sign the 29-year-old who moved to the Bernabeu from Sevilla in 2005. He has an official buy-out clause of £143m in his contract, although Real are likely to insist on a fee nearer to £46.5 million were he to move to the Premier League.
Another Real Madrid man United could be signing up is 15-year-old midfielder Moha Mohamed Aiman Moukhliss.
The Moroccan youngster impressed at the Nike Cup in Elche last week, and is thought to be one of the hottest properties in Spanish football.
