French reports suggesting that Manchester United are close to completing the €35m signing of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move away from St Mary's and last week said he would only leave the Saints this summer for Champions League football and would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
The nine-cap French international has been a long-term target of Arsenal, but Canal + are reporting that United have jumped ahead of the Gunners in the race to sign the talented midfielder.
"I think my decision is made," he told a radio station last week
"I learned a lot last season. The goal is to stay in England. It is a championship that I like and where I have a lot of fun. If I leave Southampton, it is for a club that plays better than the Europa League.
"If I leave Southampton it will be for a club in the Champions League."
Schneiderlin played a key role in helping Ronald Koeman's men finish seventh and Louis van Gaal is believed to have ear-marked the right-footed midfielder to boost his options in the middle of the pitch.
A fee of £25m (€35m) is believed to be Southampton's asking price for the player they bought from Strasbourg in 2008.
