Lyon want Arsenal's Olivier Giroud in part exchange for Alexandre Lacazette - report
Olivier Giroud looks likely to be used as a bargaining chip this summer.
The Arsenal and France striker could be used in a part-exchange deal for Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports in the French media.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has made it clear where he stands on Arsenal's continued pursuit of their 26-year-old striker. Le10 Sport claim Aulus will sell their star forward, who they rate at £60 million, but would preferably like Giroud as part of the deal.
Lacazette had been on course for a switch to Atletico Madrid until the Spanish club's transfer ban prevented such a transition.
Lyon aren't the only ones giving Giroud special attention. West Ham are also said to be following movements at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger signed a new two-year deal to stay on.
Giroud is not prepared to waste his career sitting on the bench and would ideally like to stay in the Premier League.
West Ham could provide the 30-year-old with regular first-team football with the Evening Standard claiming that Giroud could be a key component of their summer rebuilding job.
The France international only signed a new contract at Arsenal in the January transfer window and it would require a large transfer fee from West Ham or elsewhere to free him from that tie-up.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has got the appetite to continue his spending ways after agreeing a £30m deal for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Another keeper on the move looks to be Manchester City's Willy Cabellero.
The ESPN are reporting that the 35-year-old will fill the gap left by the departure of Asmir Begovic who joined Bournemouth earlier this month.
And in keeping with the keepers theme (excuse the pun), Napoli's Pepe Reina is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League and quite possibly linking up with Rafa Benitez again, this time at Newcastle.
Reina has one year left on his deal in Italy but the Spanish keeper's agent says that returning to England remains "an option".
AC Milan have also been linked with a move for the former Liverpool man, but Reina's agent Manuel Garcia Quillon insists the Spain international will not play for an Italian club other than Napoli.
“No, there’s nothing,” Quillon told Calciomercato when asked if Reina could switch to the San Siro this summer.
“In Italy there’s only Napoli.
“The Premier League? We’re talking about an important player who a lot of teams would like, but his priority is to stay with Napoli.
“Is a renewal impossible? I don’t know, we discussed it but for now we haven’t moved forward.”
