Liverpool transfer rumours: Klopp drops Gotze interest but makes move for German defender
In news likely to disappoint many among the Liverpool faithful, it is understood that German attacking midfielder Mario Gotze will not be moving to Anfield next season.
According to the Liverpool Echo, manager Jurgen Klopp is now happy with his attacking options having secured the services of Sadio Mane from Southampton.
With Liverpool out of the running, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham will be left competing to gain the Bayern playmaker's signature.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp could be preparing a mover for young German midfielder Julian Draxler.
The Wolfsburg playmaker was a mainstay in Germany's Euro 2016 side, and has been on the radar of Europe's top clubs for a number of seasons.
If clubs do want to secure his signature, however, they will have to be prepared to spend in excess of £52m.
Nevertheless, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs recently admitted Draxler would one day move on to a bigger club.
“It is clear that Wolfsburg is not the end of his dreams – neither was Schalke," Allofs told Sport Bild.
"There are clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or one or other club from England."
