Liverpool want to sign Brazilian midfielder Allan Rodriguez de Souza from Internacional, according to The Guardian.

Brendan Rodgers has been the most active manager in the transfer window so far this summer, signing seven players since the end of last season - including £29million on another Brazilian, Roberto Firmino, last month.

But the club's splurge shows no sign of stopping, with Allan the latest player to be linked with a move to Anfield.

The 18-year-old midfielder reportedly impressed Liverpool with his performances in the Frenz International Cup held in Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur earlier this year, and they have now opened talks with Internacional about a possible transfer.

Allan would cost around £500,000 and would be more likely to be drafted into Liverpool's academy squad than immediately into the first team environment, given his lack of experience.

The teenager would be the third highly-rated young prospect to join the club this summer, with Liverpool having already signed Joe Gomez from Charlton and Bobby Adekanye from Barcelona.

Allan certainly fits the template of player Liverpool traditionally target - a youngster with potentially high sell-on value. He would be the third Brazilian midfielder on the club's books, joining Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva.

Another signing which is reportedly imminent at Liverpool is Martin Skrtel, who is apparently ready to agree a new contract at the club.

The Slovakian international's future had been in doubt earlier this summer after he branded Liverpool's initial contract offer "unacceptable", and claimed he expected better terms as a senior player and first-choice centre-half.

That impasse now appears to have been cleared, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that he will sign a new extended contract on Monday. The deal is likely to be for three years, which - if he fulfils it - would extend his career at the club to a decade.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's great summer clear-out is likely to continue with the selling of Spanish winger Luis Alberto to Deportivo La Coruna.

Alberto, 22, has been a flop since his £6.8million move from Sevilla in 2013: he spent last season on loan at Malaga and does not appear to be a part of Rodgers' first team plans next season.
