Shane Long is better than any striker at Liverpool right now and would be more appreciated by Kop fans if he was English, says the Irishman's former team-mate Stephen Hunt.
Long has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp desperate to sign a front man to help out his hit and miss Liverpool team.
Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy voiced his concerns about the possible move today but Hunt has heaped praise on the in form Irishman.
"Shane long is better than any Liverpool striker they have got,who knows if he is a Liverpool player until he gets the chance,if English mmmm," Hunt said on Twitter.

But Murphy feels it would be a mistake to for Klopp to sign Long and says that the club need to use Christian Benteke in a more effective role.
“There’s no point bringing in players who aren’t better than what you’ve already got," said Murphy.
“Would you suggest Long is a better player than Benteke? I don’t think so. Liverpool have to play Benteke and use him better.
"You have to play to Benteke's strengths. The way Liverpool are playing at the moment isn’t really suited to what Benteke is good at…yet he’s still their top goalscorer."
