Liverpool on red alert: 'Mario Gotze Bayern Munich future is in doubt'
Mario Gotze's move to Liverpool could still be on after Bayern Munich technical director refused Matthias Sammer to rule out the forward leaving the Allianz Arena.
Gotze worked with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, and spoke earlier this month about the need to resolve his future one way or another.
And Sammer has agreed with the 23-year-old and refused to confirm whether Gotze will stay. "He has put a few things up for discussion and we will clarify everything in the second half of the season," Sammer said.
"A lot of things will have been resolved by then."
Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, is ready to go head-to-head with Guus Hiddink, the interim manager at Chelsea, after it emerged both clubs are interested in signing Alexandre Pato, according to the Independent.
Pato, who spent five years at San Siro with AC Milan before returning to Brazil to play for Corinthians, has already expressed his desire to join a Premier League club descibing it the "number one" division in the world.
“One day I knew I would like to come to England because I think the championship is the number one in the world. It is very competitive,” he said.
Pato, 26, is currently loan at São Paulo where he has scored 26 goals in 59 appearances, alos siad that he had discussed the merits of the Premier League with Liverpool and Chelasea players past and present.
"I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. When you get the ball, you need to be ready. The defenders here are very tough but I like that. I have spoken to Willian, [Roberto] Firmino, [Philippe] Coutinho and David Luiz before.”
Fiorentina, meanwhile, are understood to be keen on signing midfielder Lazar Markovic who is currently on loan at Fenerbahce.
Markovic, a £20 million signing under Brendan Rodgers, has not played under Klopp and the German is unlikely to sanction the move after already saying he wanted to to see the Serbian back at Anfield.
Klopp, finally, is understood to have dispatched his club scouts to monitor Emil Forsberg, the Red Bull Leipzig winger, with a view to making a summer bid for the Swede.
Forsberg, 24, was the subject of a Liverpool enquiry last month, but his club rebuffed the approach for the winger.
After joining the Bundeliga 2 club from Malmo last January, the Sweden international has continued to impress and has clearly caught the eye of Klopp.
