Liverpool free to sign Alexandre Lacazette and make bid for Real Madrid winger
Liverpool have been cleared to sign striker Alexandre Lacazette after Lyon told their player he could either sign a new contract or leave.
French newspaper L'Equipe says Lyon will not stand in the 24-year-old's way if he wishes to move to the Premier League.
Liverpool, who have long been linked with the frontman, have been put on red alert by the news and could make a move before the end of the month.
Brendan Rodgers has already completed the signings of forwards Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, but the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City may convince him he needs Lacazette as well.
The Frenchman scored 27 goals in 33 league matches last season and has also attracted interest from Arsenal.
Liverpool are also believed to be battling with Arsenal for the signature of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev.
The Reds are believed to have made an initial £14.2 million bid for the Russian, but Arsenal could top that with a £15m offer, according to The Star.
Cheryshev impressed on loan at Villarreal last season, but is deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.
One player who looks to be on his way out of Anfield is controversial striker Mario Balotelli.
Liverpool are desperate to shift the striker, and The Mirror reports that Fiorentina would be willing to pay £1.5million for a loan deal with a view to a permanent £12.5m transfer.
Fabio Borini is also (finally) heading for the exit door, with Fiorentina again the interested party. Liverpool hope to get around £5m for the former Roma forward.
The Liverpool Echo meanwhile reports that the club are considering a number of loan offers from Championship clubs for exciting 18-year-old attacking midfielder Ryan Kent.
