Liverpool signed two teenagers on Thursday as Brendan Rodgers continues his rebuilding project at Anfield.
Bobby Adekanye joined the Merseysiders after the teenage Dutch winger was courted by a number of clubs including Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, while Brooks Lennon joined from US club Real Salt Lake.
Adekanye, 16, revealed he had joined Liverpool on his Instagram account on Thursday evening, when he posted a picture of himself with the words: “I am very happy to sign for Liverpool.”
The teenager, who has been compared to Arjen Robben, is left-footed with good pace.
The Nigeria-born Dutchman became available as a free agent following a dispute between Barcelona and Fifa over their recruitment policy to La Masia Academy.
Fifa claimed that Adekanye had been illegally signed by Barcelona from Ajax in 2011 when he was 12. The player was later banned from playing for the Catlans which led to him going out on loan to PSV last season.
After playing for the Holland Under-16s at the Algarve Cup in February, Adekanye now joins Liverpool where he will go straight to the Academy.
