Liverpool have tabled a bid for Shakhtar Donestsk's Alex Teixeira.

Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu has handed Liverpool a massive boost in their pursuit of Alex Teixeira but insisting he will not keep the player against his will

Teixeira wants to move to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Chelsea both in the hunt. It is the Reds who are in pole position and have reportedly finalised personal terms with Teixeira.

However, Lucescu is adamant that the 26-year-old is worth £38 million and has apparently rejected offers of £25 million and £28 million.

Lucescu is quoted in FourFourTwo as saying: "Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go. I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship."

"He’s worth €50m (£38m). He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique.

"I compare him with other players of the same age who changed [the fortunes of] a club, Di Maria for example at Paris St-Germain.

"Teixeira can be at the same level, better even. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better."

Barcelona star Luis Suarez has revealed that if he was to ever to return to the Premier League, it would ONLY be with Liverpool.

The Uruguayan moved to the Nou Camp for £75 million after almost firing the Reds to the Premier League title.

He told ESPN: "You never know what will happen in the future.

"If I was to return to England, it would be to play for Liverpool - not for any other team.

"I have missed the fans. The (Anfield) atmosphere is incredible, it's incredible.

"Everyone that has played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know that they are in my heart."
