The Frenchman has been linked with the Gunners all summer long but today he took to Twitter in spectacular fashion to put to bed any rumours that he will be leaving Spain.

"For all those clowns who want to make believe things at my fans. Here this is my home ! #HalaMadridYNadaMas," said Benzema.

Arsene Wenger has been clear that he will only sign another player if they are of 'exceptional' quality, and Benzema was widely thought to fit the bill perfectly, with some saying that he has become dispensable at the Bernabeu.

New Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has insisted that Benzema is not for sale, and Wenger has persistently rubbished reports linking him with the striker, and this latest news is likely to be the final nail in the coffin for any potential deal.

Benzema has been at Real Madrid for six years, scoring 87 goals in 188 league appearances.

Arsenal have also been liked with moves for Edinson Cavani, Gonzalo Higauin and Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
