The 23-year-old is one of many full backs to be linked with a move to Anfield, but it appears that he is top of Jurgen Klopp's wishlist.

In addition to featuring 85 times for Milan since his debut in 2011, he also played a key role in the Italy side that reached the Euro 2016 quarter final.

The defender’s agent stated “There are definitely many clubs interested, we are looking around both in Italy and abroad. We have also had contact with Napoli.”

Meanwhile, Newly-promoted Serie A side Pescara have ruled out making a move for Mario Balotelli.

Pescara president Daniele Sabatini said: “The name Balotelli gets brought up a lot, but Mario is a great player and the last thing I think he will do is come and play for Pescara or Crotone.

“I know where we have to take action, but we also must remain patient and do our market.

“We don’t have to bring in celebrities to please someone.”

Pescara are in need of a new striker having sold their top goalscorer Gianluca Lapadula to AC Milan over the summer.
