James McCarthy could be set to leave Everton with West Brom and Aston Villa potential destinations for the Ireland midfielder.

McCarthy has lost his place in the Everton starting team under Ronald Koeman who has stepped up his interest in Manchester United's Morgan Schneiderlin.

Should that deal come to fruition, it could spell the end of McCarthy's three-year stint at Goodison Park.

The Daily Mail are reporting that both West Brom and Aston Villa have made enquiries about McCarthy, a £13million signing for the Toffees in 2014.

McCarthy was not involved in Everton's FA Cup defeat to Leicester City yesterday as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
