How a pregnancy may have scuppered a move on Transfer Deadline Day

Swansea City’s Neil Taylor put family first on the day he looked to be completing a big money Premier League move.
The 24 year-old Welsh international had been courted by Fulham as they desperately seek to shore up the leakiest defence in the Premier League and after making an initial bid of £4 million, were set to up their offer to entice the full-back to London.
However, with media speculation going into overdrive on the transfer deadline day, Taylor’s wife went into labour mid-afternoon and the player’s attention was naturally focused elsewhere.
Manager Michael Laudrup had said that he wouldn’t sell the player – who only has four Premier League appearances this campaign – unless he had a replacement, but it appears the inadvertent intervention of his wife ensured Taylor is staying in Wales for the immediate future.
