Liverpool have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Christian Benteke, with reports suggesting the Belgian is not keen on a move to rivals Tottenham even if they agree a transfer with Aston Villa.

Benteke has been linked with a summer switch to White Hart Lane which would see Emmanuel Adebayor go the other way.

However, The London Evening Standard claims the Belgium striker remains unhappy with the way Spurs acted when they tried to buy him two years ago and his preference is a move to Anfield.

Tony Pulis is ready to make a double swoop for Rickie Lambert and QPR's Charlie Austin in a huge statement of intent by West Bromwich Albion.

Today's Daily Telegraph reports that Lambert is a key target as Pulis prepares to substantially revamp his squad, with Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe and Stephane Sessegnon all free to leave.

Lambert will cost around £4 million after a frustrating 12 months at Anfield.

Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates will make a permanent move to Sunderland from Liverpool, reveals The Guardian.

The Uruguay international spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light, where he initially struggled to secure a regular first-team place under his compatriot Gus Poyet but established himself in the side once Dick Advocaat took over as manager.

Liverpool should sell Raheem Sterling to Manchester City now and complete a deal which is best for all concerned, says former Reds striker John Aldridge.

Aldridge has told The Liverpool Echo that he believes the rumours surrounding Sterling are casting an unnecessary shadow over events at Anfield this summer.

"Brendan Rodgers should let Raheem Sterling leave for Manchester City now," he said. "The sooner he leaves the better for all involved. All this transfer talk is making a mockery of Liverpool Football Club."

And finally, Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Swedish defender Ludwig Augustinsson within days.

The Metro reports that, with a £2 million fee agreed, Liverpool are on the cusp of sealing the signing from FC Copenhagen.
