The Sun have expressed their disgust at the news that Chelsea turned the opportunity to sign saviour of English football, Dele Alli.

The story says Chelsea 'amazingly snubbed' the chance to sign Alli when the midfielder was still playing at MK Dons.

Alli signed for Spurs in a £5 million deal at the end of the last January transfer window, but the Sun claims Chelsea refused the opportunity to pip their London rivals to the England international's signature.

The reason for passing up on Alli? They thought Chelsea academy graduate, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, was a better player. The jury remains out on that one.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Pato's anticipated move to Stamford Bridge will mean Chelsea will allow Loic Remy to leave the club - and Moussa Sissoko wants the Frenchman to re-join Newcastle.

Pato, 26, is understood to be very close to finalising a move to Chelsea, and the completion of the transfer will give Remy the green light to move.

Remy scored 14 goals for Newcastle while on loan at the club two seasons ago and the 29-year-old is rumoured to be open to a return to St James' Park.

The Sun Sport claims Sissoko, Remy's former teammate and fellow countrman, has spoken to the striker about a move to the North East.
