Chelsea agree €95m Pogba deal while Arsenal to hire private jet for Benzema medical – reports
Chelsea look set to add former the highly-coveted Paul Pogba to their squad while Karim Benzema may be preparing for an Arsenal medical.
The Sun reports that fresh from signing Barcelona forward Pedro, Jose Mourinho is about to entice former Manchester United midfielder Pogba to Stamford Bridge after the Blues a £69m (€95m) deal with Juventus
We are told Chelsea have simply made Juve an offer they can't refuse and that Oscar, Willian and Juan Cuadrado could move in the opposite direction.
Barcelona were in pole position to sign the Frenchman, with Man City also very keen, but The Sun says 'Chelsea have gazumped everyone with a huge statement of intent from owner Roman Abramovich'.
The Daily Star goes one further by suggesting Chelsea are set to make a 'stunning £100m double swoop' for Pogba and John Stones.
The paper says that, with the arrival this week of £21m Pedro from Barcelona and Baba Rahman, from Augsburg, for a similar fee, plus £8m goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and striker Radamel Falcao, Abramovich's spending could hit a massive £150m in this window.
However, while The Sun insists Pogba will cost £69m, The Star reports that Abramovich has set a £60m limit on the 22-year-old midfielder.
Roberto Martinez, meanwhile, has warned Chelsea that Everton will not sell Stones even if the England defender hands in a transfer request, reports The Daily Mail.
The latest Benzema 'news' is that Arsenal have reportedly chartered a private jet to bring Benzema to England and have arranged for him to stay at a 'five-star hotel in London' ahead of undergoing a medical with the club on Monday!
These claims are being made by Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, who has become a familiar figure to Arsenal fans for his regular updates on the Benzema saga.
Giulianelli even goes as far as to say that Benzema could be presented as an Arsenal player before their Premier League clash with Liverpool.
