Brendan Rodgers admits Mario Balotelli's Liverpool future is in his own hands
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said he is unsure whether Mario Balotelli will still be a Reds player by the beginning of the season.
Balotelli caused a stir on social media yesterday after congratulating Raheem Sterling on Twitter following the £49m-man's first goal for Manchester City.
The Italian, who was not included on Liverpool's tour of south-east Asia and Australia, has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
speaking in Kuala Lumpur, Rodgers claims he's uncertain what the future holds for the former AC Milan hitman but is happy with reports of his work-rate back in Melwood.
"I'm not sure - that'll be entirely up to Mario," the Northern Irishman said. "He's working very hard to get fit and that's something we'll see when the season begins.
"Mario's obviously not on the tour, but he's been training well back at Melwood with a number of other players."
Liverpool are expected to announce the £32.5m signing of Christian Benteke later today which will see Balotelli slip further down the pecking order at Anfield.
