Reports in Spain claim that Chelsea striker Diego Costa has told new manager Antonio Conte and owner Roman Abramovich that he wants an immediate transfer back to Atletico Madrid.
Newspaper AS report that Conte tried in vain to convince Costa to stay at Stamford Bridge but the Spain international has already made up his mind.
Costa had a difficult season is the Premier League last year as Chelsea performed far below expectations, finishing the campaign in tenth place.
The striker is said to be unsettled and unhappy with the bad press that he gets in England.
Chelsea have already signed striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille this summer but Conte was hoping to keep Costa as well, believing he could help the striker and Eden Hazard rediscover their best form after poor campaigns.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has made Costa his number one transfer target this summer.
Costa scored 36 goals in his last season at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in 2014 and the club's fans would love to see him return.
