Arsene Wenger seen in Paris to fuel talk over signing of Edinson Cavani and Adriend Rabiot
Arsene Wenger has been spotted in Paris to fuel a flurry of optimism among desperate Arsenal fans that their transfer business is not ending with a whimper, but possibly with the addition of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
Wenger has proven reluctant to move in the summer transfer window, with the Gunners the only hope to have made just one signing this summer in the form of former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
A number of high profile pundits, including Gary Neville, have blasted Wenger for failing to strengthen the squad in the right areas when they appear so close to forming a Premier League title winning side. Neville was predominantly unhappy with the lack of a new defensive midfielder and striker, two positions that Arsenal have looked short on for some time.
However, Wenger’s appearance in the French capital has triggered a flood of tweets from the Emirates faithful hoping that the Arsenal manager is pushing through a last minute deal for Cavani, with reports also claiming that PSG’s Adrien Rabiot is also on the radar.
Wenger has already hinted that a deadline day signing has been in the pipeline. The Gunners have made a slow start to the new Premier League season, with wins over Newcastle and Crystal Palace pegged back by the draw with Liverpool and defeat to Crystal Palace.
