Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, is understood to be monitoring Granit Xhaka, the Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder, as the Frenchman looks to strengthen his midfield.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Wenger has added Xhaka to his potential shoping list that also includes Ruben Neves and William Carvalho
The club have watched the Switzerland international in his recent Bundesliga and Champions League and are understood to have been impressed.
However, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also siad to be keen on signing the defensive midfielder.
Besiktas, meanwhile, have confirmed earlier reports that they are interested in signing goalkeeper David Ospina. The Turkish Super Lig club had courted the Colombian during the summer, but with first-team football now limited thanks to Petr Cech's good form, Ospina may now be ready to move to Istanbul.
“We are interested in Ospina," Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Nur Cebi said. “Him and goalkeepers of his calibre, but just because we want him does not mean he will come. We have to agree with his club and take his contract into consideration.”
Goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny and Emi Martinez are both currently out on loan, however it has been reported that Arsenal have now joined Liverpool in the race to sign Bartlomej Dragowski, the 18-year-old Poland Under-21 goalkeeper.
The Jagiellonia Bialystok goalkeeper, who has made 44 appearances in Poland's top flight, would cost around £4 million and could be key to Ospina's mooted departure.
And finally, Wenger is ready to make an offer for Aissa Mandi, the Stade de Reims’ right-back, when the transfer window opens, according to reports.
Mandi, 24, who has scored 10 goals in 138 appearances for the Ligue 1 side since 2009, has been linked with a move away from Stade Auguste Delaune and has recently been scouted by the north Londoners.
