Arsenal want to sign Manchester United defender Jonny Evans

Arsenal are interested in bringing Manchester United defender Jonny Evans to the Emirates this summer.
Arsene Wenger wants to add another centre-back to his squad and the Mirror believes that Evans is one player the club are keeping tabs on.
West Brom are also keeping track of the Northern Irishman's situation at Old Trafford, but Arsenal are likely to beat their Premier League rivals to any bid for the defender.
Evans has been frozen out by United manager Louis van Gaal, but he could risk swapping the bench at one club for another if he potentially joins Arsenal.
Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker remain Wenger's top choices in central-defence and even the arrival of Evans would not shake up that happy balance.
Evans, however, is versatile and could turn his hand at one of the full-back positions.
Calum Chambers, one of the full-backs at Wenger's disposal, will reject any plans or proposals the club have to send the youngster out on loan.
Chambers was brought from Southampton last summer and has been linked with a temporary switch back to the Saints.
It is thought Ronald Koeman wants Chambers to return next season as a replacement for Nathaniel Clyne who joined Liverpool for £12.5m earlier this month.
Chambers, however, wants to continue his progress at Arsenal next season and is reluctant to be shipped out on loan, according to the Sun.
The 20-year-old joined the Emirates for £16m last summer after coming through Southampton's academy.
Chambers' 23 Premier League performances also earned him an England call up and he now has three international caps to his CV.
But after the emergence of Hector Bellerin, also 20-years-old, Chambers struggled to get a look in and was even left out of the starting XI for England's U21s at the European Championships this summer.
Arsenal are closing in on doing a bit of business with Southampton with the path cleared to sign Morgan Schneiderlin this summer.
Manchester United were favourites to land the French midfielder, but having since signed Bastian Schweinsteiger, are no longer in the market for another central midfielder.
The Star believes Arsenal will now make their move for Schneiderlin but report they are unwilling to match the £25m asking price.
Southampton have consigned themselves to losing the Frenchman this summer. The club's head of football development Les Reed said: “It’s very difficult to know where his future lies because, yes, there’s interest, it’s been well documented that they made a bid that we turned down, and that to an extent is their declaration of interest.I’ve been bracing myself for the big offer that goes ‘Right, take it or leave it,’ and that hasn’t come.
“We’ve had declarations of interest from a couple, one’s made a bid, and you would expect from clubs of that status that, if they were deadly serious and deadly earnest to bring a player like Morgan Schneiderlin to their club, they would get it done, and that’s really what we’re waiting for, and then we’ll know,” he added.
