Arsenal have made an offer of £24m for the Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to reports in Spain.

El Mundo Deportivo newspaper has reported that Khedira, who is away on World Cup duty with Germany, has welcomed a move to the Emirates Stadium after holding positive talks about life in England with his close-friend, Mesut Ozil.

It was a campaign blighted by injury for Khedira last season, who missed five-months with after suffering a knee injury. He did, however, return in time to start for Real in their 4-1 Champions League final victory over neighbours Atletico Madrid.

Last October, Khedira spoke of his admiration for the "German-influenced" Gunners.

"There is a real German influence [at Arsenal] now, with Per Metersacker, Lukas Podolski, Mesut and also younger players coming through. They are the sort of players Arsenal need if they are to win trophies"

Both Ozil and Khedira will be in the Germany squad to face France tonight in the quarter-final in Rio de Janeiro.
