Arsenal look to have cleared the path to sign Celta Vigo winger Nolito next month.

The Gunners were expected to have to battle with Barcelona for the 29-year-old but the current La Liga leaders can't afford the £15m-rated star, say the Mirror, putting Arsene Wenger's side in pole position.

Nolito has emerged on a number of leading European clubs' shopping list in recent weeks for his stunning early season form which has rocketed Celta Vigo into the top four.

Celta have been trying to tie the Spain international down to a fresh deal, but it appears the lure of moving to the Premier League with Arsenal could be too great.

Nolito came through Barca's La Masia academy and is thought to be interested in a return to the Nou Camp, but the best the Spanish giants could offer is a loan deal.

The Mirror adds that Nolito, who featured in the friendly against England last month, could expect to see his wages "rise by around 250 per cent" if he moves to North London.

The former Benfica winger has scored eight La Liga goals this season and providing five assists in 14 appearances.

Another player who could add firepower and punch to Arsenal's attack in January is Real Madrid's Jese Rodriguez.

Spanish outlet Don Balon are reporting that Real have offered the Gunners first refusal on the 22-year-old.

Arsenal would have to cough up around £20m for his services, but they could see that as a decent long-term investment with youth on his side.

Jese is a versatile proposition for Arsenal. He can play anywhere across the front three but has struggled for game time at Real with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema ahead of him.

Jese could be swayed by the lure of first-team football on offer at Arsenal and be interested in a switch.
