Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger preparing to spend £100m on 'unnamed striker' and winger
According to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, Arsenal are still interested in Alexandre Lacazette, but will only make a move for him if a deal for an 'unnamed striker' falls though.
Arsenal have made a forward signing their main priority during this transfer window, and after they failed to land their main target, Gonzalo Higuain, it appears that the club are weary about publicising their next move.
The origin of the journalist could provide a clue though, as sources in Italy have already claimed that Arsenal are keen on signing Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi, while Julian Draxler is also linked with a move to the Emirates.
Giulianelli said: “Arsenal are working on a secret name, not yet revealed, and the recent trip to Germany of some club members could mean something.
"Or maybe it was for [Julian] Draxler? No-one knows yet.
“What we know is when and if Arsenal realise that they won’t be able to take their first choice, they will take Lacazette.
"The budget ready for the striker plus the winger is about £100m.”
However, if this deal fails, then the Gunners will move for Lacazette in what will be a £40m deal.
