Transfer window watch: done deals
Chelsea have signed former Fulham and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on a free transfer.
The 40-year-old Australian, who left Fulham at the end of last season after five years, has signed a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
"It's a phenomenal club. It's one of the biggest and best clubs in the world, and it's an honour to sign for Chelsea. I didn't take much convincing to come here," he said.
USA striker Jozy Altidore is returning to the Premier League after completing his transfer to Sunderland from AZ Alkmaar yesterday.
The 23-year-old Altidore agreed a four-year deal to leave the Dutch league for Sunderland.
Altidore spent the 2009-10 season at Hull while on loan from Spanish club Villarreal. He has also played for the New York Red Bulls, Spanish team Xerez and Turkish club Bursaspor.
Reading have allowed Karl Sheppard to extend his loan stay with Shamrock Rovers until the end of the season.
Everton have signed goalkeeper Joel Robles and defender Antolin Alcaraz as Roberto Martinez strengthens his squad with players who worked for him at Wigan.
The 23-year-old Robles is leaving Atletico Madrid on a five-year contract, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan.
The Spaniard played in Wigan's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May alongside Alcaraz.
Alcaraz, a 30-year-old Paraguay centre-back, has been a free agent since his Wigan contract expired at the end of last season. He has agreed a two-year deal at Everton.
West Brom have signed defender Goran Popov on loan from Dynamo Kiev for another season, subject to international clearance.
The 28-year-old Macedonia international made 12 Premier League appearances for Albion after signing a similar deal in August.
Dubliner Gary Deegan is on the radar of Northampton Town after failing to secure a contract at Yeovil Town, while injury-hit striker Stephen Elliott could be on his way to Tranmere. Reports in Turkey suggest Derry City's Europa League opponents Trabzonspor are interested in Stoke striker Peter Crouch.
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is in Germany for "final talks" over a potential move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga club revealed that Bendtner and his advisors had flown to Frankfurt in an attempt to finalise the deal.
Swansea expect to confirm the signing of Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem within the next 24 hours. There is yet to be an official announcement from either club about a deal, but a picture of Bony posing with a Swans shirt alongside the Welsh outfit's chairman Huw Jenkins has appeared on Twitter.
Limerick native John McGrath is set for a move to Turkey at the ripe age of 33.
McGrath, who made two Premier League appearances for Aston Villa in 2001, is training with Turkish second division outfit Fethiyespor after being released by Burton Albion.
