Transfer watch: City 'refuse to meet Cavani asking price'
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis claims Manchester City are not prepared to meet their £53.6m asking price for striker Edinson Cavani.
According to De Laurentiis, Real Madrid are the only club to have made an acceptable offer for the Uruguay forward.
Cavani, who scored 38 goals last season, is one of the hottest properties in the world game and has been consistently linked with a big-money move.
NEW BHOY VAN DIJK KEEN ON EURO PLACE
Holland U-21 international Virgil van Dijk is relishing the prospect of Champions League football after completing his move to Celtic.
The 21-year-old centre-back signed a four-year contract after the Hoops finalised his transfer from FC Groningen for a fee that could be worth a reported £2.5m.
Van Dijk said: "I watch the Champions League all the time and you see Celtic all the time. Last year's game against Barcelona was a famous game."
Van Dijk has set his sights firmly on making the Champions League group stages with the Bhoys.
"I'm very confident, but first of all I need to get used to everything," he said. "I think I can bring something extra to the team and we will see how it works out."
KARLSSON A FAN OF BLACK CAT LARSSON
Sunderland recruit David Moberg Karlsson is hoping to emulate compatriot Sebastian Larsson as he prepares to launch his career on Wearside.
The 19-year-old Swede has watched senior international Larsson from afar during his time in the Premier League and is looking forward to linking up with him at Sunderland.
Karlsson said: "I have seen Seb for many years now when he was a young player and I looked at the Premier League.
"I looked at him playing football for a long time, so I'm a big fan. I talked to (former Black Cat) Tobias (Hysen, a team-mate at Gothenburg) about Sunderland before my move; he talked well about Sunderland, so it's great. "I have heard about how the fans are crazy about games. It's fun, you want passion in football – that's why you play."
VAN WOLFSWINKEL EYES IMPACT WITH NORWICH
New Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is confident he can quickly stamp his mark on the Premier League next season.
The 24-year-old, who was part of the Holland squad for their end-of-season friendlies in Asia, will officially complete an £8.5m switch from Sporting Lisbon on July 1.
Van Wolfswinkel netted 15 goals last season and said: "I have never really had that much trouble getting used to a new competition or new team so I hope I can do the same again .

Bayer Leverkusen have signed right-back Giulio Donati from Inter Milan to boost their squad ahead of next season's assault on the Champions League. The 23-year-old, part of Italy's U-21 team that reached the European Championship final earlier this week, penned a four-year deal.
