A 5,000-strong crowd witnessed the 'Battle of the Hoops' at Tallaght Stadium last night as a youthful Glasgow Celtic XI came from behind to pinch a draw against Shamrock Rovers.
Michael O'Neill's side were energetic in the early stages as recent recruit James Chambers offered plenty of industry in the centre of the park alongside the equally effective Stephen Rice.
Rovers' bright start was rewarded in the 11th minute when Stephen Bradley converted a penalty after Graham Barrett had been fouled by Declan Gallagher.
Celtic, with Ireland U-19 international Richie Towell prominent, improved after the break and Paul Caddis equalised on 70 minutes when he smashed the ball home following a clever cross from right-back Mark Wilson.
