Tonight's League of Ireland previews

Bray v St Patrick's Athletic (Carlisle Grounds, 7.45)

Published 09/09/2011 | 05:00

League form: Bray LLWDL, St Pat's DWLDW

  • Go To

Match odds: Bray 7/2, St Pat's 8/11, Draw 5/2

Referee: A Kelly.

Team news: Bray trio Adam Mitchell, Danny O'Connor and Stephen Last are suspended. Gary Dempsey (back) and Chris Shields (ankle) are doubts. St Pat's have doubts over Sean O'Connor and Evan McMillan (groin strain). David McMillan (hamstring) and Derek Doyle (calf) are out. Ian Daly, Derek Pender and Daryl Kavanagh return.

Talking point: Tonight marks a massive few days for St Pat's and three points here would leave them in a good position heading into Monday's clash with Shamrock Rovers.

Verdict: Away win.

Derry City v UCD

(Brandywell, 7.45)

League form: Derry DWWWD, UCD LDLLW

Match odds: Derry 1/8, UCD 18/1, Draw 6/1

Referee: D Tomney.

Team news: Gareth McGlynn (knee) and Michael McCrudden (ankle) are expected to miss out for Derry. Danny Ledwith (ill), Sean Harding (groin), Michael Leahy (suspended), Ciaran Nangle (Shin), Cillian Morrison (hip flexor) are doubts for the students.

Talking point: UCD have conceded 10 goals in their last two games and seven on their last trip to the Brandywell. They'll have to tighten up at the back big-time if they are to have any chance of an upset here tonight against the long odds-on favourites.

Verdict: Home win.

Drogheda v BohemianS

(Hunky Dorys Park, 7.45)

League form: Drogheda WWDLL, Bohs LWLDW

Match odds: Drogheda 5/1, Bohs 4/7, Draw 5/2

Referee: T Connolly

Team news: Dave Rogers returns from suspension, while Stephen Trimble is a doubt for Drogheda. Bohs striker Christy Fagan and defender Liam Burns return from suspension, while midfielder Lee Dixon returns after his late call-up to the Ireland U-21 squad.

Talking point: It's been a forgettable season for the Drogs, but conceding three goals in the last 10 minutes against UCD to go down 5-4 last time out was particularly galling.

Verdict: Away win.

Shamrock Rvs v Sligo Rvs

(Tallaght Stadium 8.0)

League form: Shamrock Rovers WWWWW, Sligo DDLWD

Match odds: Shamrock Rovers 4/5, Sligo 7/2, Draw 9/4

Referee: D Hancock.

Team news: Shamrock Rovers continue to work without Dean Kelly (groin), Conor McCormack (knee) and Ken Oman (knee), while there are doubts over Billy Dennehy who has a groin problem. Sligo have a clean bill of health.

Talking point: In any other season, this would be one of the most significant games of Shamrock Rovers' season. But after their heroics in the qualifiers, will they have one eye on their upcoming Europa League adventure.

Verdict: Draw.

Galway United v Dundalk

Terryland Park (7.45)

League form: Galway LLLLL, Dundalk DDDDL

Match odds: Galway 10/, Dundalk 2/11, Draw 11/2

Referee: P Tuite

Team news: Laurence Gaughan returns from suspension. Johnny Keane is still out with a knee injury. Victor Collins (ankle) and Sean Kelly (knee) are both doubts. Dundalk operate without long-term injury victims Chris Kerr, Eoghan Osborne, Stephen McDonnell and Stephen Maher, while Paul Murphy (back) and Greg Bolger (suspended) are out. Ross Gaynor (ankle) is doubtful.

Talking point: The season can't end quickly enough for Galway, who haven't picked up a point since April 8.

Verdict: Away win.
