Time up: Ex-Arsenal defender gets his Rolex back
FORMER Arsenal footballer Lauren is to be given back a Rolex watch that was stolen from him more than six years ago.
The retired Cameroonian defender will collect the Rolex Daytona today after police found the watch among £500,000 of stolen goods at addresses in Essex and east London.
The Rolex, which was taken in March 2005, was one of many sought-after and highly-collectable watches, both wrist and pocket, which were recovered. The majority of them had been produced in limited numbers.
Det Sgt Richard George, of the Tower Hamlets crime squad, said: ''We are delighted to be able to reunite Lauren with his watch. We are utilising every tool available to us to identify as many victims as possible.''
The investigation by police in Tower Hamlets has identified a number of the watches as being stolen in armed robberies on jewellers, household burglaries and thefts across the south-east of England from 1994 to late 2010.
A Flickr page has been set up in the hope that the public will browse through images of the stolen items and identify anything that might belong to them.
