WHAT'S THE LOWEST POINTS TOTAL THE EVENTUAL CHAMPIONS HAVE HAD AFTER SIX GAMES?

THE history of the Premier League suggests that if a team hasn't hit double figures in points after six games, they have little chance of winning the title in May.

Of the 21 Premier League champions, only one has been in single figures after six games and, as you would expect by law of average, that was Manchester United, who managed just eight points from their opening six games before winning the league in the 2002/03 season.

Chelsea are the only team to have made a perfect start after six games and they have done it twice, under Jose Mourinho in 2005/06 and again under Carlo Ancelotti in 2009/10.

On average, a team manages fractionally over 13 points from their opening six games before winning the league, a tally which only Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have reached so far this season.
