Misses England's first penalty in a quarter-final shoot-out defeat to Euro 2004 hosts Portugal.

Steve McClaren leaves Beckham out of his England squad to face Greece.

LOW - January 2007

Frozen out by Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello after agreeing to move to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.

HIGH – 2007

Works hard in training and is restored to the Real side by Capello. Real go on to win league title.

HIGH – March 2008

Wins 100th cap in England's 1-0 friendly defeat to France in Paris.

LOW – March 2010

Ruled out of the 2010 World Cup after suffering an Achilles injury during loan spell at AC Milan.

LOW - August 2010

Capello announces on August 11 2010 that Beckham is probably too old to play a role for the national team in the future.

HIGH – November 2011

Wins the MLS Cup (left) as the Galaxy side, which includes Robbie Keane, beat Houston Dynamo 1-0.

HIGH – 2013

After joining Paris St Germain, he helps the club to the Ligue 1 title.
