Swans set to splash cash in double deal
Swansea City are prepared to spend almost £20m on signing forward Wilfried Bony and midfielder Tom Ince.
Swans chairman Huw Jenkins held talks with Bony's representatives and an offer believed to be around £10m has been tabled for the Vitesse Arnhem striker. Swansea also moved for Blackpool's Ince, a further signal of their intention to build on last season's ninth-place finish in the Premier League. Cardiff have also tabled an offer, believed to be around £8m, for Ince.
Relegated Wigan also began their rebuilding work with moves for the Newcastle defender James Perch and Bursaspor goalkeeper Scott Carson.
Sunderland confirmed the signing of three new players on Bosman transfers. Defender Modibo Diakite signed a three-year contract after moving from Lazio, midfielder Cabral has arrived from Basle and French defender Valentin Roberge also signed a three-year contract.
Paolo Di Canio needs to replace Simon Mignolet, who has moved to Liverpool, and is ready to table a £2m bid for Arsenal's Vito Mannone.
Crystal Palace moved closer to breaking their transfer record, with the £6m signing of Dwight Gayle edging nearer. The 22-year-old striker, who has not even played a full season of league football, scored 13 goals for Peterborough last season, while West Brom are monitoring Nicolas Anelka's situation.
