Strike a blow for women's rights

In a week where the role of women in football has been in sharp focus, the football fan charged with punching Stevenage player Scott Laird after their FA Cup victory over Newcastle has claimed he was only standing up for women's rights -- well, sort of.
Robert Fitzgerald claimed in court that he was defending the honour of his girlfriend, who had previously dated Laird, who allegedly "didn't treat her correctly". Just as well Fitzgerald didn't get his hands on Andy Gray this week...
