Jason Molloy put Galway in front with seven minutes left at Terryland Park before Straut pounced late in the game.

The visitors could have been in front in the first half when Galway skipper Barry Ryan saved a Straut penalty.

Galway might have scored five minutes before the break, but Gearoid O'Leidhinn cleared a Steven Walsh header off the line.

In the 83rd minute Galway substitute Jason Molloy headed home Karl Sheppard's cross.

However, Salthill summoned an instant response when Straut headed in an equaliser from close range from Michael Quirke's cross.
