Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard made his 700th appearance for the club as he returned to face Bolton in the FA Cup fourth round replay at the Macron Stadium.

He and Joe Allen came in for Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva as the only two changes from Saturday's home win over West Ham.

Gerrard marked the occasion by donning a special pair of boots.

Bolton fielded three changes from the side which drew 0-0 at Anfield with first-choice goalkeeper Andy Lonergan, David Wheater and Zach Clough the new faces.
