Chelsea saw off Southampton 4-2 on Tuesday to re-open a seven-point lead at the Premier League summit.

Along the way, their players racked up several statistical landmarks:

:: Diego Costa's first goal was his 50th in the Premier League. He has taken 85 matches to reach the landmark - one fewer than ex-Liverpool hitman and fellow controversy magnet Luis Suarez.

:: The same goal saw Cesc Fabregas move second on his own in the all-time Premier League assists chart with 103. Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs leads the way with 162, with former Blue Frank Lampard (102) and United's Wayne Rooney (101) the only other players in three figures.

:: Gary Cahill's goal, Chelsea's second, took him ahead of William Gallas and level with ex-Newcastle man Steve Watson for fifth place among Premier League defenders with 26. Exclude penalties, though, and Cahill trails only team-mate John Terry's tally of 40 - David Unsworth (39), Leighton Baines (30) and Ian Harte (28) are or were dead-ball specialists.

:: Both of Southampton's goals on the night were scored by ex-Chelsea players, Oriol Romeu and Ryan Bertrand.
