Sheridan bound for Sofia

CILLIAN SHERIDAN will complete his shock move from Celtic to CSKA Sofia before the end of the week after agreeing terms with the Bulgarian outfit.

CSKA, who face Welsh side TNS (Bohemians’ conquerors) in the next round of the Europa League, have agreed a transfer fee of around £300,000 with Celtic for the striker.

“I’m planning to go over on Thursday and then sign on Friday,” said the 21-year-old Bailieboro, Co Cavan, native. “I went back to Celtic for pre-season hoping to impress, but there’s a lot of strikers there ahead of me so Neil Lennon told me it was probably best if I went out on loan or moved somewhere else.

“The offer to go to Sofia was already there. Over the summer I thought about it and when I went over to have a look I was happy with what I saw so I’m looking forward to going over.

“Last year they played Roma and Fulham in the Europa League and the prospect of playing in those sort of games was a big factor in my decision to move.”
