Sevilla seal Aspas swoop

Sevilla have completed the formalities of their loan deal for Liverpool striker Iago Aspas

Sevilla have officially completed the signing of Liverpool forward Iago Aspas on a season-long loan.

The Spanish striker passed a medical on Friday after the two clubs agreed a deal, which includes the option to buy permanently, earlier in the week and the paperwork has now been finalised.

Aspas, 26, moved to Anfield from Celta Vigo last summer but had a disappointing season and made just 15 appearances, the majority as a substitute, and scored one goal.

Aspas said on www.sevillafc.es: "Last year I wasn't able to show all that I can do, but I'm not looking at this as a second chance, more as an opportunity to feel important as a footballer again, which is my objective."

Looking ahead to his aims for this coming season, Aspas hopes to help Sevilla earn a Champions League berth like Liverpool managed last term.

"It's the same as when I arrived at Liverpool. They were a big club who were not going through their best moment and ended up finishing second in the Premier League, qualifying for the Champions League.

"The objective must be similar because this club is one of the biggest in Spain."
