How the draw

will work

n Eight groups of six will be drawn, with one group of five.

•The nine group winners will qualify automatically; the eight best runners-up will go into two-legged play-offs.

•The European qualifying round starts in September 2012 and ends in October 2013.

•Globally, there are 832 qualification games, with 175 nations (of 203 initially) still in the running.

•The draw will be shown live on RTE2 from 8.15 tonight.

•The FAI will be represented by chief executive John Delaney, president Paddy McCaul and honorary secretary Michael Cody.
