Manchester United's troubles continued with a 2-1 defeat at Fenerbahce which leaves qualification out of Europa League Group A in the balance.

Moussa Sow sensationally opened the scoring inside 65 seconds with an exceptional overhead kick - lighting up a first half in which Paul Pogba was forced off injured.

Jeremain Lens, on loan from Sunderland, doubled the home side's lead with a fantastic free-kick in the second half, handing United with a mountain to climb.

Despite enjoying the lion's share of possession, United struggled to create any clear-cut chances for themselves in front of goal - with opportunities coming far and few in between.

Wayne Rooney's late wonder strike in the 89th minute handed the visitors hope but Dick Advocaat's side held out in the frantic minutes that followed for a famous home win.

It leaves United's hopes of qualifying in doubt and their second defeat in the Europa League will inevitably raise more questions for a side that is struggling to find its feet on both the domestic and European stage.

David de Gea - 6

Caught off his line for opening goal. Put in some important saves to limit the damage.

Matteo Darmian - 4

Gave away possession with far too many careless passes.

Daley Blind - 5

Put in some important challenges here and there but disappointing as a whole.

Marcos Rojo - 4

Poor defensive performance. Caught out on too many occasions. Out of his depth.

Luke Shaw - 4

Ineffective down the flank. A number of his deliveries were well off the mark. Confused positioning too when on the front foot.

Morgan Schneiderlin - 3

Not enough forward passing and was largely ineffective. Brought off at half-time.

Ander Herrera - 5

Handed possession away in a number of dangerous positions. Threatened here and there going forward.

Marcus Rashford - 6

Utilised his pace on occasion but ultimately struggled to impress the boss and was substituted early.

Paul Pogba - N/A

Forced off through injury in opening 20 minutes.

Anthony Martial - 6

Provided some clever, piercing passes at times. One of United's few players who looked interested.

Wayne Rooney - 6

Deployed higher up the pitch but struggled to deliver. Missed early goalscoring chance but sparkled in dying minutes of the match with wonder strike.
