Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri failed to make the French World Cup squad today, sparking a furious reaction from his girlfriend.
The Premier League champion had said he did not expect to be named in Didier Deschamp’s squad for Brazil and while he may not have been surprised to have the summer off, his girlfriend Anara Atanes was still very unhappy with the decision.
“I think the dye is cast,” Nasri told French channel Canal+ last weekend.
“I respect (Deschamps') choice. I’ll watch the World Cup on TV. If starting games in a club like Manchester City and winning two titles isn’t enough, too bad, I won’t regret anything,” he said.
Nasri was omitted with fellow City player Gael Clichy and it resulted in the following tweets from his girlfriend Anara.
“F*** France and f*** deschamps! What a s*** manager!” the 26 year-old British model tweeted.
“Incase u didn’t read my tweet properly…ill repeat myself…f*** FRANCE!!!!! And f*** deschamps!”
“Lets just get this straight! I’m not mad I get my bf for 2 months… I just think theres a level of respect to be had!,” she added.
