Jack Reid bagged a sensational winner as St Joseph's, Rochfortbridge, capped an incredible season of firsts by claiming the FAI Schools Minor Boys All-Ireland title yesterday.

Reid's superb solo goal 10 minutes from time in Athlone ensured that the fairytale continued for the Westmeath school on their debut season at this level -- before this year, they had never won a regional title.

In the second half, they were up against it, with the score 0-0 and a strong wind behind St Gerald's.

But Joseph's bravely withstood the dead-ball threat of Ireland U-15 international Noe Baba, and almost went ahead through a Ciaran Doyle header.

Reid had a penalty claim waved away as Joseph's attacked on the break.

And on 60 minutes, Reid set off from half-way, beating one defender and coolly slotting beyond the advancing Paul Walsh.
