Question nobody asked played over the weekend?
How many Irish absentees

IN the build-up to last week's game against Norway, the word "experimental" was being used everywhere to describe the team available to Giovanni Trapattoni (pictured) after a glut of pull-outs. However, the Italian will have been an interested observer of various team-sheets over the weekend with many of those absentees featuring with varying degrees of success.
Sean St Ledger was booked during Preston's 3-1 loss to QPR, while Richard Dunne and Ciaran Clark both played 90 minutes. There was better news for some of the other 'no-shows' with Kieren Westwood keeping a clean sheet for Coventry in their 1-0 win against Burnley; Paul Green playing the full game in Derby's 3-2 win over Scunthorpe and Kevin Kilbane playing almost an hour in Hull's 1-0 win against Ipswich.
There wasn't much luck for those who started the Norway game with Shay Given, Stephen Kelly, John O'Shea and Glenn Whelan not featuring at all, while there were defeats for Darren O'Dea, Greg Cunningham, Liam Lawrence, Damien Duff and Kevin Doyle.
